SEATING

Now when it comes to decorating and styling your cozy corner, you’re going to want to start with something comfortable. However, we are working with much more limited space and design for small spaces so you don’t necessarily need to get yourself a chair if you don’t want to.

If you can fit a beautiful accent chair comfortably for your small space then great, but you can even use a thick floor cushion if you choose. However, anything that includes extra storage space or curvaceous form is great for small spaces.

BOOKS

Let’s start with the obvious cozy corner idea. Books. Is there anything that says cozy reading corner more than shelves full of books?  There is something to be said about adding books to your small living space as a decor. Decorating your home with books adds an element of lived-in sophistication and there’s no wrong way to do it.

However if you live in a small living space then being a bit more organized in your approach to decorating with books would be best. Go for floating shelves or shelving that is visually minimalist and chic.

WALL ART

If art is more your speed then gallery walls are obviously a choice. The goal is to create a space that feels somewhat enclosed. We want it to be a cozy nook, a place we can seek refuge in our very own home. Filling your walls and shelves with things that  you love or that make you feel happy is key. Wall art is also visually pleasing and if styled proportionality of course, you can really add another element of interest to your small space.

There are many ways to organize your wall art to fit your cozy corner. You can go full on and create a gallery wall. You can also use shelves to display the art. Or you can simply choose a large canvas wall art piece. It’s important to remember scale and proportion when doing so.

CANDLES

A cozy aesthetic is pretty much synonymous with candles. We want to make our little nook to feel cozy and warm and candles are the best way to do that. Candlelight is a totally vibe in itself, but also using candles reminds us all of creating a ritual of a calm moment. What once used to be simply a source of light has turned into a decorative element that most of us love to add to our interior space.

Scents can do wonders for the mind too. They can create a feeling or relaxation and overall can just uplift your spirits and senses. So be sure to light yourself a candle or too. Cozy and warm lighting is very very important. You want to make sure as always that when you use light as an element in design for small spaces, that you understand what you are trying to achieve. If you intend on creating a cozy reading nook then task lighting would be a great choice.

If you want to show off your wall art then maybe an art light fixture or even a pendant lamp or a wall sconce. If you just plan on basking in the sunlight by the window, then suffice it to say natural light is best.
